My photography journey started back in 1978 with a Zenit SLR camera and a few rolls of B&W film. In 1984, I purchased an Olympus OM4, built a darkroom and experimented with many types of film and print media.
In 2000, I acquired my first Olympus digital camera and 4 years later I switched to Canon and spent much of my time photographing family & friends, wildlife and landscapes. A year later, I founded a couple of photography forums, gained a LRPS and became a fan of RAW development and RawShooter.
In 2008, I started my own photography business – GlobalTech, and became the sole UK distributor for Silkypix software and Feisol tripods. I switched to Fujifilm cameras in 2012 and continued to run GlobalTech until early retirement in 2022. I am also a keen collector, user and repairer of vintage medium format cameras and lenses.
Over the years I have organised many group photography field trips and developed an interest in colour science.
I switched to Lightroom soon after Adobe’s acquisition of Rawshooter and have used many other RAW developers. In 2015, I settled with Capture One and now dabble with Darktable.
It’s been well over 10 years since I had an active blog dedicated to photography. Much of that time was spent travelling and leaning into early retirement. Last year, I acquired a Leica Q3 and I am now considering a move to Hasselblad medium format cameras.
2025 started with a conscious move away from mainstream social media and the beginning of a new space to share my photography interests, both past and present.
